Belen, founded by two Spaniards in 1740, is the Spanish word for Bethlehem, and residents here enjoy a friendly community. Railways are widely available, and I-25 and I-40 are conveniently located nearby. Alexander Municipal Airport is the only public service of its kind in Valencia County. Belen residents are served by the Belen Consolidated School District, with schools for all ages. Higher educational needs are met by the Valencia Campus of the University of New Mexico.
